BPI Gradient Microswitch Trouble-Shooting Guide

BPI 4-Stroke™ and 5-Stroke™ Gradient Lensors
manufactured BEFORE  3/85

(4 Stroke Gradient has top microswitch only)

Before removing the cover of  the Gradient Lensor, be sure to unplug the machine from the electrical outlet.

Problem: The 5-Stroke arm won't remain in the down position in order to tint solid lenses.

Solution: The lower microswitch needs adjustment. Loosen the two small screws holding the lower microswitch and slightly pivot the switch upward. Retighten the screws and test. Now the microswitch will click once when the lift bar is at the lowest point of its stroke.

Problem: The arm continues to dip when the timer is in the OFF position.

Solution: The top microswitch needs adjustment. Loosen the two small screws holding the top microswitch and slightly pivot the switch downward so that the white tip connects with the lift arm when the cam is in its highest position. Re-tighten screws and test.

Problem: The microswitch is adjusted correctly, but the Gradient is not turning off in corresponding mode.

Solution: Replace the microswitch corresponding to the particular operating mode.
